Hope from the young

Twelve-year-old Lia already knows that standing firm on the sanctity of life is hard. When she decided to give a speech for a school competition on abortion, she faced opposition and threats that she would be disqualified because of the 'controversial' message of her talk. She refused to back down and after a heated discussion among members of the judging panel, she was declared the winner.

Lia's speech was posted on YouTube and attracted 100,000 viewers. It is deeply shameful that a child should have faced open persecution because she chose to give a speech on a subject about which she felt strongly, but it is a great cause for hope that she had the courage to stand firm and speak the truth. Well done, Lia.
