Ireland "safest place to have a baby"

Readers of my blog will have seen the report [28 June] on the ESRI statistics that appeared last week, in relation to the rising number of births in Ireland.    What didn’t get much coverage, however, was that during the radio interview with Dr. Michael Turner, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University College Dublin, on the Morning Ireland programme on Radio Éireann One, the interviewer asked – ‘So you would say that Ireland is one of the safest places on the planet to have a baby?’  To which the good doctor’s reply was – ‘It is, I’m pleased to report.’   He said that this was ‘a tribute to the excellent care’ provided in Irish hospitals.

This is the message that the pro-life people of Ireland have always proclaimed.  They are proclaiming it today, and they will continue to proclaim it in the future.
